Wednesday 10th February - walk ***** - Felixstowe Ferry – Heavy snow and
sunny afternoon :).
I was not going to post a blog today as we only had a short walk but it was
such a big day for me, I decided to write this.
In the morning we had heavy snow here again in Felixstowe, coming through
in waves which I enjoyed in our backroom doing my exercises while watching
the hungry birds on the feeders with Mag having another bake up in the
kitchen. Then amazingly we started to get some glimpses of blue sky so
after a late lunch we headed out in the van for the first time in several
day, the residential roads are still icy but the main routes in town are
mainly free as we headed down to Felixstowe Ferry, the snow looks so much
better set against a blue sky:) I wanted to stop at the cliff top car park
to take some pics but the entrance was blocked with snow! Also, the road
across the golf course was narrower than usual because of snow but it was
quiet so no problems. The Martello tower on the golf course looked
wonderful in a sea of snow set off by a blue sky! We managed to park just
past the small chapel and walked to the River Deben with Bawdsey beach
covered in snow. We then walked around the Ferry boatyard with many of the
small tender dinghies full of water, with several frozen solid! We meet the
Swains out for a walk to check their yacht and stopped for a chat before
checking out the row of delict house boats before returning to the van.
It was then a short trip to the Grove Medical Centre for my covid jab, they
have been going strong despite the bad weather of late! To say we were
impressed is an understatement, a whole host of volunteers helped you park
and ushered you into the room for the injection, which was over in a flash
in a very professional manner before you had to wait 15 minutes before
leaving. The whole thing was probably over in 20 minutes and I cannot fault
it, just fantastic. So I can only hope that this is the beginning of the
end to this terrible virus and am feeling upbeat at the moment, so well
done everyone involved and a big thankyou from me:)
